This is the 2nd biggest surprise so far in Patriots camp (first was Warren)...
"The Patriots have brought back safety and special teams specialist Ross Ventrone just hours after releasing James Sanders in what was apparently a cash-driven roster cut. Sanders was due to make $2.8 million in 2011 and the two sides couldn't come to an agreement on a pay cut so Sanders was released so he could sign on with another team nearly two weeks before opening day (WEEI)."
Sanders had been out hurt a lot of camp, but I am still surprised. He wasn't anything great, but he was very solid. Maybe Belichick thinks that Chung and Meriweather are ready to be full time guys, but Meriweather really makes me nervous and thus I question this move. Seems like every time I question a Patriots move Belichick ends up being right (other then Clay Matthews), but still this really surprised me.
