NFL Preview: New York Jets

Offense:
I like the Jets a lot. I think Mark Sanchez is on the brink of being a top flight QB. He certainly has the team around him. He has a great run game in Shonne Green and Ladainian Tomlinson and his WRs took a hit in the loss of Braylon Edwards and Jericho Cotchery, but still have a decent core in Santonio Holmes, Dustin Keller and now ex con Plaxico Burress.

Although Mark has the weapons through the air, I expect this team to model the Ravens with a ground and pound type of attack. Why wouldn't you when you have a veteran offensive line is anchored by Pro Bowl left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson, All-Pro center Nick Mangold and right guard Brandon Moore. Vlad Ducasse, the team’s second-round pick in 2010, is expected to start at right tackle after spending the bulk of his rookie season on the bench.

Defense:
Like last year this is the teams calling card. Although they lost Shaun Ellis and Kris Jenkins they injected a lot of youth into the defensive line by drafting Muhammad Wilkerson and Kenrick Ellis and both will play pivotal roles as part of a rotation that includes Sione Pouha and Mike DeVito. David Harris Calvin Pace and Bart Scott will be their primary linebacking unit. Nothing wrong with that.

Their secondary is once again led by their corners in Darrell Revis and Antonio Cromartie. They missed out on Nnamdi Ausumgha but whatever, it's never a bad this to have Cromartie. Kyle Wilson, who was inconsistent as a rookie, will be the nickel back, but he will have to improve his man-to-man cover skills. Safety Jim Leonhard, the brains of the secondary, is expected to be fully recovered from his season-ending leg injury. Look for Dwight Lowery to transition from cornerback to safety after playing a hybrid role last season.

This will be a very tough defense.

Overall:
14-2; will finally dominate the regular season.
